What are "Salvage Goods"?
Salvage assets have been identified as defective for reasons concerning their functionality, appearance, or both. Salvage assets usually can only be used for parts.
What are "Returned Goods"?
Returns were sold to a customer, who then either physically brought the item back to a store or mailed it to a specified location. Reasons for returning a product may not have any correlation to its usefulness (i.e., size, color, model, etc.), and as a result that product may be in fine working order. The majority of Returns, however, do have some operational and/or cosmetic problem. Depending on a company's return policy, these items may also reflect a measurable amount of use. In addition, since most of these items are sent through a reverse supply chain (e.g., from a customer back to a store or a centralized warehouse), they can show signs of further handling. They generally do not come in original packaging and often do not have any of the advertised documentation or additional parts and/or accessories. Accordingly, Returns can exhibit a wide range of individual product and package conditions that can differ substantially from the original manufacturing.
What does "Closeout" mean?
Brand new items that are no longer being sold for wholesale cost are considered Closeouts. Thus, it may be a result of discontinuation and overstocking of the product.
How do we get the merchandise here to my state?
We ship nationwide at a very reasonable rate. Contact our Shipping and Receiving department for questions.
How do we accept payment?
We accept cash, cashier's check, money orders, major credit cards, or bank wire transfers. In regards to wire transfers, the buyer should contact us before and after they have transferred the funds. Approximately 45 minutes to 12 hours will be needed for us to receive wires. Moreover, once our bank confirms the approval of the transaction, the shipment is ready for pickup. If everything follows accordingly, we will have your shipment en route within 24 hours.
Do I pay you for trucking or do I pay your trucking company?
It does not matter. It would be a little quicker if you pay us at time of wire transfer. Or, we can have it sent collect so you pay the shipping company when it arrives. Some customers prefer this as it allows more time to pay before the load arrives. If a load is to be sent collect, you will need to register with our shippers and fill out a credit form. However, this could delay the load departing for a day or two. In addition, you can also pay the trucking the same day you send a wire to us.
Are there any other costs that I should be made aware of?
Our prices given before a purchase are a flat fee. If you are buying by the pallet, there could be a slight increase, or decrease, depending on the class and weight of the item. The only other cost that may occur is having the proper equipment to unload the truck, i.e. forklift, pallet jack, and loading dock.
Are there any limits on the size of order?
Since STR inventory is labeled either salvage or closeout, the limit of order size depends on how much inventory is available. For example, if a customer wants more than one truckload of merchandise and only one was present, we would let the buyer pay only for the available merchandise. We would contact the buyer ASAP when more shipments arrive and reserve the first right to purchase to that buyer.
Do we have any contracts to sign?
It depends on the situation. Example: If a buyer is purchasing department store goods from us, they must sign a contact stating that they will not try to return the goods to the original department store for a refund. As far as our company goes, there is no ongoing contract and you can buy a load from us once or as many times as you like.
Can I fly down and inspect the load if I want to before purchase?
Yes, if the merchandise is in one of our warehouses.
